Every Sunday evening, before the week officially begins, our family gathers in the living room or kitchen with journals, Bibles, and crayons spread across the table. Kenny and I sit with our three boys (Tiago, Shiloh, and Hugo), and together we hold what we call our Sunday Setup: our weekly CEO meeting with God.
It’s part financial reset.
Part business strategy.
Part spiritual alignment.
Part family discipleship.
It has become the most important rhythm in our home.
As spirit lead entrepreneurs, it’s easy to get caught up in the pressure to produce, grow, and “make things happen.” But God showed us another way, and it’s one rooted in trust and alignment rather than hustle and striving.
One of my life Scriptures:
Proverbs 3:4–6 (NIV)
“Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight.”
These verses completely reframed the way we run our business, steward our finances, and lead our family.
Why We Invite God Into Our Weekly Planning
A lot of entrepreneurs prepare for the week with planning, budgeting, or vision boards.
But here’s what changed everything for us:
❌ Planning first and praying later
✅ Praying first and planning from what God says
We stopped asking God to bless our plans and started asking Him for the plan.
And from that moment on, things shifted.
We began to see:
- clearer direction
- more unity in our marriage
- less financial anxiety
- better decisions
- more fruit in our business
- and our boys growing in confidence hearing God for themselves
When we made God the CEO of our business, we didn’t just experience spiritual alignment, we experienced practical clarity.
The Purpose of Our Sunday Setup
Our weekly CEO meeting with God serves three purposes:
1. Alignment
Before we align our schedule, we align our hearts.
2. Stewardship
We place our business, creativity, and finances under God’s leadership.
3. Discipleship
We teach our boys how to hear God’s voice and trust Him with their own week.
What Our Sunday Setup Looks Like (Step-by-Step)
Here is our exact flow. Feel free to adapt it for your family or business.
Step 1: Start With Worship or Gratitude
We take a few minutes to quiet our hearts and get into unity with what the Lord.
Sometimes we play a worship song other times we start with prayer .
This shifts us from pressure → presence.
Step 2: Invite God Into the Meeting
We pray something simple like:
“Holy Spirit, lead this time.
Show us what You have for our family, our finances, and our business this week. Speak Lord, your servants are listening.”
It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just be sincere.
Step 3: Listen Quietly
We set a timer for 2–5 minutes.
Everyone listens, even the kids.
We ask:
- “Lord, what do You want us to focus on this week?”
- “What should we pause or let go of?”
- “Where do You want us to sow our time, money, or creativity?”
The boys often get simple insights, and they’re usually profound.
Step 4: Compare Notes
We share what we heard.
We look for:
- alignment
- repeated themes
- clarity
- wisdom
We bring our business into this moment:
- priorities
- offers
- clients
- financial decisions
- creative direction
The Holy Spirit always brings unity.
Step 5: Set the Week According to God’s Direction
Now we map it out:
- our business tasks
- financial decisions
- content creation
- appointments
- kids’ schedules
- family time
- rest
This is where stewardship becomes practical.
Step 6: Pray Over the Week
We end by speaking blessing over:
- our finances
- our creativity
- our home
- our marriage
- our clients
- our children
This prayer anchors our week in peace.
How This Impacts Your Finances
This rhythm affects money in powerful, practical ways:
– You make spending decisions from peace, not pressure
– You sow intentionally (not emotionally)
– You recognize opportunities God is highlighting
– You stop chasing money and start stewarding mission
– You walk into the week with clarity
God doesn’t just care about your spiritual life.
He cares about your financial life, business life, and creative life too.
What If You’re New to Faith?
If the idea of meeting with God every Sunday feels new or unfamiliar, you’re not alone. Many people exploring faith or rebuilding their relationship with God don’t know where to begin.
Here’s what I want you to know:
1. God actually likes spending time with you.
Not because you’re perfect, but because you’re His.
2. Hearing God is a skill, not a superpower.
Most people don’t hear a loud voice.
They hear whispers, ideas, peace, or clarity. We hear God’s voice the clearest through His word. It’s the blueprint for everything! Through His word we learn His character and nature, which helps us discern what is from Him and what is not.
3. Your prayers don’t have to be long or fancy.
Try something simple:
“God, I’m here. Please lead me this week.”
4. Start with five quiet minutes.
Ask God a question.
Write down what you feel or sense.
5. Start reading the Bible in places meant for beginners.
A few great places:
- Proverbs (wisdom for real life)
- Psalms (God’s heart)
- The Gospel of John (who Jesus is)
6. You don’t need a spiritual resume.
God meets you right where you are, not where you think you should be.
7. Your Sunday Setup can be simple.
Quiet moment → prayer → listen → write → plan.
Consistency matters more than perfection.
